From Page to Stage: Breaking into Playwriting by Hillary DePiano
So many fiction authors are intimidated by script writing. Could it be the unusual formatting or the limitations of the genre? Or is the more likely culprit that most simply don't know what to do with a script once they've finished it. In this Zoom presentation, we'll cover the basics of playwrighting from generating ideas and crafting your draft to scheduling readings and submitting to contests and other opportunities. Attendees will learn the difference between the needs of the professional, community and school theatre markets as well as how to pursue both productions and publication. We'll also focus on 10-minutes plays and how they are the playwright's calling card, opening up opportunities for inclusion in anthologies, festivals and the chance to book full length productions later on.
